favourite anime !!

my entire life i've always loved anime(& manga) - the artstyles, expressions stories & more just really drew me in ^___^ as a kid i loved pokémon & sailor moon in particular but as i've grown older i've expanded my repetoire. today my favs are cute animes (but often also psychological) & anything by key/visual arts. however, i just have sooo many favourites, i wanted to have a page dedicated to them all rather than individual ones because there are just too many that i feel shape me as a person and mean a lot to me >:D

to see more about the anime i watch visit myanimelist !

Angel Beats! (2010)

i adore angel beats! it was my first key/visual arts anime and it truly lived up to my hopes. i instantly found myself in Kanade - a quiet and understood character, often seen as emotionless (aka Kuudere). however the fact is no one has tried to know her, and often people believe she is their enemy, despite Kanade feeling that she is doing what is right. that is, until Otonashi appears, spurring the beginning of change.

angel beats! follows the story of Otonashi and his encounters with those who have found themselves stuck in the 'afterlife': a highschool limbo for teens who have died with regrets and trauma that they must overcome before passing on, although what they will 'pass' onto, no one knows! therefore, many of the students choose to oppose this idea of 'moving on', having formed the SSS Brigade to act against it. the series starts with Otonashi, wakeing with no memory of his past or how he passed, not even realising that he had died. however Yuri, the leader of the SSS Brigade, and Hinata (yaoi material), swiftly take him under their wing and fill Otonashi in on the goings on of this strange afterlife..

favourite chara: Kanade Tachibana

Kanon (2006)

Kanon holds a very special place in my heart. the Makoto arc, which occurs pretty early on, brought me to flowing tears (not a common occurence these days !) I liked all the girls but Ayu was deffo my fav & probably the girl i related to most :3 (Mai next).

i seem to see a lot of people saying that they found the girls annoying (which they are allowed to ofc!) but personally i just feel that they're teenage girls??? plus they all have hardships, some more than the average person (e.g Shiori or Ayu). i think the girls are coping & surviving in a supernatural world in a way that isn't unexpected. Yuichi is also a fairly likeable male lead. i will say i wasn't too happy with how he treated Makoto at the start, particularly in comparison with how he treated all the other girls but he did make up for himself later on..

currently i am playing the visual novel on steam!! it's probably a great cosy winter game but i couldn't wait till then hehe :') and i am thoroughly enjoying it! Kanon isn't my first visual novel although it is my first of this type of visual novel ? in terms of the ones i've played before where more horror-based or satirical. Kanon seems very sweet !

favourite chara: Ayu Tsukimiya

Little Busters! (2012)

a fun & cute but also emotional (!!?) anime. i fortunately i haven't been able to watch season 2 as there is nowhere online you can watch any of this anime legally i'm pretty sure T_T. i managed to find s1 english sub on internet archive - however no luck for the rest of the series. you'd think it would be a very fun slice of life cutesy anime, which it is, although it also has some very dark and unexpected moments. as a little sister myself, i saw myself very much in Rin (i seem to always relate to the youngest children the most)

favourite chara: Rin Natsume

Lucky Star (2007)

such a cute slice of life anime with so many references to other otaku culture but particularly 'the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya' (same animation studio & voice actors!)

favourite chara: Tsukasa Hiiragi

Ouran Highschool Host Club (2006)

a very dear anime to me... so enjoyable to watch. it has it's more emotional moments but it is not a sad anime at all. however, remembering this anime, hearing the op and ed tracks, it just makes me so very nostalgic and honestly rather sad, as i miss it so much. i am currently reading the manga and there very could easily be a season 2. there won't be. it's been 20 years. it also feels they made it out for their to be one?? although, it is an amazing anime besides this that i think everyone should watch. ouran host club is so so funny and light-hearted (with depth & character development) plus a good soundtrack.

favourite chara: Kaoru Hitachiin

Pokémon XYZ (2015)

i love all pokemon anime but xyz is probably my favourite. gen 4, 5 and 7 animes also hold a very special place in my heart + origins.

favourite chara: Bonnie

Puella Madoka Magica (2011)

favourite chara: Madoka Kaname

Serial Experiments Lain (1998)

i love serial experiments lain. people say it's overrated & that it's 'larped' but i don't care. i like it and that's all that matters!!!! such a clever anime, definitely for a specific taste and not very easy to understand, but when you connect the dots & unravel the truth, it feels very meaningful.

favourite chara: Lain Iwakura
